Abstract

Correlation between hydrogen-ion concentration and percent spore germination in the myxomycete, Didymium iridis, was tested. The results indicate that an acidic environment of pH 6 promotes optimum spore germination in this myxomycete Ho germination occurs at pH's of less than J or above 9.5. Results also demonstrate that a slightly acidic environment will decrease the time required for germination to begin.
