Abstract

Homonegative attitudes, also known as negative attitudes toward homosexuals, are prevalent in our society. This study aims at measuring the homonegativity present among undergraduate students at a private, Catholic college using the Modern Homonegativity Scale (Morrison & Morrison, 2002). Researchers will also examine possible theoretical explanations regarding the presence of homonegativity. The Social and Economic Conservatism Scale (Everett, 2013) and the Anti-femininity Scale (Thompson, Jr. & Pleck, 1986) will be used to infer potential reasonings of homonegative attitudes. A comparison will be done between homonegativity toward gay men and homonegativity toward lesbian women in order to determine any significant differences among these demographics.
