Abstract
The purposes of this work ares a) to determine the stability constants for complexes of thiourea and methylthiourea with cadmium (II) ion by applying a definite correction factor to the best existing determination (1); and b) to explain the results on the basis of accepted theories (2).
The experimental information was obtained from the Ph.D. thesis of Ryan (1), who used thiourea and 1-methyl-2-thiourea as complexing agents. The solvent system used was 50% dioxane-50% water, (% by volume). Where ligand solubilities permitted, similar data were obtained from studies involving aqueous systems for comparative purposes. The purposes of this work ares a) to determine the stability constants for complexes of thiourea and methylthiourea with cadmium (II) ion by applying a definite correction factor to the best existing determination (1); and b) to explain the results on the basis of accepted theories (2).
