Abstract
Manyfold have been the experiments and the methods, of the various interested experimenters, for embedding biological specimens, embryos and fetuses as well as adults, In plastic. Regarding the practicality of this technique as to its use with a didactic viewpoint in biological sciences, many and varied methods have been created to produce preparations that will show particular details of this or that system of the animal anatomy. One of these techniques, known as the Spalteholz method, demonstrates the skeleton (bone and cartilage) in various animals.
Bio-Plastic, first brought into the market by the Ward's Natural Science Establishment, Incorporated, in Rochester, New York, has come to be a new teaching aid. It is the first commercially successful transparent plastic mounting for soft-bodied biological specimens it is the last word in low pressure plastic material.
Bio-Plastic preparations consist of mail blocks of crystal-clear plastic in which are embedded the different biological specimens, which, to this time, already range through a wide variety, including pig and chick embryos, sea horses, frog tadpoles, Japanese beetles, starfishes, jelly-fishes, grantias, aurelias, and like soft-bodied biological forms.Manyfold have been the experiments and the methods, of the various interested experimenters, for embedding biological specimens, embryos and fetuses as well as adults, In plastic.
