Description

Abstract

After the isolation and fractionation of histones Hl and Hl" from lamb thymus and bovine liver, these chromosomal proteins were purified for further research and experimentation as to how this family of histones functions in chromatin. The relationship of the Hl" subtype of histone Hl with DNA lengths was studied using a preparation of mouse liver nuclei. The Hl" protein was found to be associated with longer lengths of DNA between 146 and 200 nucleotide base pairs.
