Abstract

Comparative studies of the BET (Brunaur, Emmett, Teller) surface area and pore volumes of calcines prepared under different calcination conditions were performed. The calcination conditions were varied with respect to final temperature soak time, and gas composition of the sweep gas. The sample prepared at 900°C for 30 minutes in nitrogen gas displayed the largest BET surface area. This sample and the sample prepared at 775°C for 90 minutes in nitrogen gas displayed the largest cumulative pore volume.
