Abstract
The course of leukemia oroduceo by Friena leukemia virus (FLU) in male ano female BALB/c- mice was compared in hydrocortisone acetate-injected and methotrexate-injected mice. Statistic, hematologic, and pathologic studies showed that hydrocortisone acetate had a greater effect on slowing the leukemic growtn than did methotrexate sodium. Methotrexate had adverse effects on kidney morphology, whereas hydrocortisone caused no detectable disorders. Neither drug reversed the leukemic process. Application to the human problem of leukemia is discussed.
