Kokanee Salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka) Population Survey at the Helena Valley Reservoir
    Type
    thesis
    Abstract
Using six surface gill nets, on October 17, 1975, a sample of Kokanee (On corhyn ohus nerka) were taken from the Helena Valley Reservoir, near Helena, Montana. The age and growth characteristics of these fish were studied by the use of otoliths and scales. A comparison with the sampled populations of 1969, 1974 and 1976 was made. An investigation of oxygen content, temperature, turbidity, and conductivity was made to see how much of the lake is suitable Kokanec habitat. Carp (Oyorlnus carpio) were also captured, for the first time, during this gill netting procedure.
