    Title
A Preliminary Microbiological Survey of Helena Area Water for the Presence of Pseudomonas : Potentially Pathogenic Microorganisms
    Type
    thesis
    Abstract
A preliminary survey of Helena water for the presence of Pseudomonas, a potentially pathogenic genus of bacteria, was undertaken from June through August 1990. Microbiological methods suited specifically for recognizing this genus were utilized. The details of those methods, the results obtained through their use, and various ways the survey could be expanded are presented here. A particular member of the genus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, is also looked at in detail due to its growing importance as an opportunistic pathogen.
