    Abstract
    Earlier studies have indicated particle selection as a means of controlling interspecific competition between freshwater sponges. Thus, an attempt was made to observe differences in two sponge types, Ephydatia muelleri and a possible ecotype, from two different lakes, Salmon Lake and Coopers Lake, in the same drainage system. The results support particle selection but the means of selection remains unclear. A comparison of the algae found in the two lakes is also made showing significant differences.
