    Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to present, as completely as resources permit, the history of St. Peter's Mission, a Jesuit institution, both necessary and desirable because of the evils attendant upon the impact of an Americanized-European culture upon that of the primitive American Indian. The period of history to which this work applies extends from 1859, when St. Peter's Mission was first established, to 1918 at which time a second fire destroyed the remaining school building.
